Ah is the desinence that Ish (male in Jewish) needs to become Ishah (woman in Jewish). The soap bars and the books collected in the seminary are the protagonists of this artwork. In the books – that the audience can read and that are preserved in a closet – is contained the only feminine presence in the building. The sentences extracted from these books are engraved in the soap bars, and measure against an everyday object of intimate relationship with the priests who lived in this place. The sentences – removed from a background made of conventions and precise mindset – are freed by the artist in order to be read and interpreted anew by people through a new vision, extraneous and different.
Two projects here.
Born after having collected a series of abandoned books and objects found in a former boarding school of the ex Convitto di Padri Gesuiti of Turin and proposing a sort of collective conversation.

WHY ARE WE HERE?
“Why are we here?” asked the virgins to Jesus. This sentence extracted from a book found in the seminary became the key and the opening question of the intimate and feminine conversation between the artist and the protagonists of these casts. Each breast represents and contains in its chalk a dialogue on being a woman, that moves back to an intimate moment of contact or confrontation with the world and with the other woman. The breast tells about the age, the life and the signs that they left on our body. 20 women – aged between 20 and 84 years old – offered their story to the artist. Among different scars, beauty marks, breast feedings signs, shapes or positions, these artworks talk to each other in a feminine confrontation which reveals the choral aspects of a world.
